Some homes begin with drawings and deadlines. Casa Orquídea began differently—shaped by the land itself, guided by a shared vision of simple, intentional living. Set along the hillside in WuWei Village, this one-bedroom home is more than just the third built here. It’s a step forward in our long-term dream of community grounded in nature, care, and beauty.

Designed for a couple ready to root into village life, Casa Orquídea offers a balance of comfort and connection. Surrounded by lake views and misty mountains, it opens fully to the elements: wide windows welcome in the morning sun, drifting fog, birdsong, and breeze. There’s no sharp divide between indoors and out—just a quiet rhythm of being part of the landscape.

Built with natural, locally sourced materials, the home reflects our ecological values. Bamboo shapes the flowing roofline and terraces. Limestone walls breathe with the seasons. Cypress beams hold the structure with strength and grace. Inside, handcrafted teak furniture made by local artisans brings both beauty and purpose to everyday living.

The layout is simple but thoughtful. A grassy terrace surrounds the home, and a second-floor veranda opens to expansive views. Downstairs, a built-in couch and hearth create a space to gather. The soaking tub invites deep rest. Even a tree has been incorporated into the design—a small gesture that speaks to the spirit of the place: one of coexistence.

Casa Orquídea also participates in the ecosystem around it. Its graywater irrigates nearby fruit trees. Native plants grow along its edges, offering shade, fragrance, and food. Tucked beneath the slope, a small understory space serves as storage—practical and unobtrusive.

The house came to life through many hands. Sebastian, a talented local architect, led the design. His team of over 30 builders brought it into form. Silvere—WuWei’s co-founder—stewarded the vision throughout the process, working alongside our trusted advisor Stefan and new co-owners Kiarash and Bahareh, whose presence helped make this project a reality.

From breaking ground in mid-June to finishing touches in December, the build moved at a steady, intentional pace—aligned with the rhythm of the land.

Casa Orquídea also marks a milestone. Our residential zone now holds space for three households, with room to grow. In time, we imagine 15 to 20 homes here—each one unique, some larger, some simple and small. All rooted in the shared values of community, service, and stewardship.

Whether you dream of building your own home or are simply drawn to the idea of living closer to the land, there may be space for you here too.

Casa Orquídea is a reflection of what we’re building at WuWei Village: a place to belong. A place shaped by care—for people, for the earth, for the future we want to live in.
