About WuWei Village
Nestled on 3 hectares of lush forest in Tzununá, Guatemala, WuWei Village is a regenerative eco-village designed to harmonize human living with nature and with each other. Inspired by the principles of syntropic agriculture, natural building, and conscious community, WuWei is a space where creativity, sustainability, and spirituality converge — not as aspirations, but as a way of life.
The story behind WuWei Village
WuWei Village was founded by a core group of dreamers and builders who believed deeply in a different way of living — and were willing to do the hard work to make it real.
Starting in 2021 with raw land and a shared vision, the founding team secured 21,000m² of land in the Tzununá Valley, installed water and energy infrastructure, initiated agroforestry systems, and completed the village's first three homes.
Phase 1 is complete. The proof of concept is built. We are now in Phase 2 — the most dynamic growth window in the project's lifecycle — raising capital to complete the retreat centre, additional residences, renewable energy systems, and the full agroforestry vision.
The name 'WuWei' comes from Taoist philosophy — the principle of effortless action, of moving in harmony with the natural order rather than against it. It is the spirit that guides everything we build here: working with the land rather than imposing upon it, cultivating community rather than manufacturing it, and allowing a thriving village to emerge through patient, intentional effort.

Silvère Joly
Co-Founder & General Manager
Expert in energetic physics and renewable energy. Since 2016, he has explored blockchain and financial systems. Passionate about permaculture, eastern alchemy, and embodiment practices, he leads the permaculture design at Wu Wei Village, promoting regenerative land stewardship.
Monica Carr
Co-Founder, Storyteller & Content Creator
BA in Journalism from Hunter College. With 16 years in alternative education, she is passionate about permaculture, mother-centered culture, and community organizing. She shapes Wu Wei Village’s vision through storytelling and content creation, fostering engagement and connection.
Stefan Bird
Director of Real Estate
Real estate developer, and managing partner at Bird House Atitlan. With an MIT Master’s in Real Estate Development, he specializes in construction, solar energy, and sustainable communities. Inspired by Guatemala’s culture, he applies his biophilic and resilient design expertise to Wu Wei Village’s intentional community.
Mayra Tobias
Legal Counsel & Notary
Mayra is a Guatemalan attorney and notary with 25+ years of experience and a Master’s in Civil and Commercial Procedural Law. As WuWei’s authorizing notary, she established the Sociedad Anónima structure and oversees legal integrity through contracts and compliance, bringing clarity, trust, and professionalism.
